Hi everyone!

My name is Janel. Jerald and I have been married since April 21st 2019 and have been together for almost 8 years. A few months after we got married, our world was turned upside down.

I was diagnosed with hydrosalpinx which meaning is “Hydro” water, and “salpinx” refers to the fallopian tube . It’s a condition where the fallopian tube is blocked and filled with fluid, often causing infertility due to the inability for the egg and sperm to meet , but in my case both of them were blocked .

In 2023 i underwent to a laparoscopic salpingectomy surgery , a minimally invasive surgical procedure where small incisions are made in the abdomen and a laparoscope (a thin tube with a camera) is inserted to remove the fallopian tubes.

My husband and I have tried to get pregnant for the last years; however, the removal of tubes has made that journey a dead end. Now, as we process the grief of the salpingectomy ending my ability to carry a child, we look optimistically toward our future with in vitro fertilization.

I have survived this debilitating medical condition because I am a fighter; however, my fight is not over.
